Transition to School

As soon as your child starts at Carlingford Kindergarten their engagement in our Transition to School Program begins. Your child begins mastering skills that will assist them during their first year of school and thereafter. The aim of our extensive Transition to School Program is to prepare children for coping with the change of moving from a play-based learning environment to a more formal learning environment. The highly qualified team of long-term educators prepare the children in a variety of ways by delivering a program that is flexible and individualized to each child.

The Transition to School Program aims to create an interest and enjoyment for learning in turn creating lifelong learners. Through our flexible approach, children have endless opportunities to develop and enhance cognitive skills, independence and life skills, language skills, mathematical skills, personal/ social skills, and physical skills. Children are exposed to the Transition to School Program each and every day they are in attendance at the Service. This program becomes more extensive in the final year before children transition to school. To celebrate each child’s involvement, success, and engagement with the program, at the conclusion of their final year, the children are a part of a special Graduation Celebration. This celebration alone provides endless opportunities for the children to further enhance and showcase the skills required for a successful transition to school.
